Cantilever Rack

Cantilever Rack Ontario Pipe, Lumber & Sheet Storage

Single and double-sided systems from Ontario made suppliers — light, medium and heavy duty configurations for pipe, lumber, steel, sheet stock and more.

Overview

Cantilever racking is designed for products that don’t fit in standard pallet racking — long, heavy, or awkward loads like pipe, lumber, steel bar, sheet goods, furniture, and extrusions. Instead of closed bays, cantilever uses open arms extending from a central column, giving you unrestricted access along the full length of the load.

TC Industrial Supply designs, supplies and installs cantilever racking across Southern Ontario. We work with Cogan and other leading manufacturers to spec the right arm length, capacity and column height for your specific product and forklift combination.

We’ve installed cantilever systems for steel service centres, lumber yards, plastics distributors, manufacturing plants and building material suppliers across Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, Hamilton, London and all across Ontario and Quebec.

Types of Cantilever Rack

Single-Sided Cantilever Arms extend from one side of the column only — used against walls or in applications where access from one side is sufficient. Maximizes floor space when placed along a wall.

Double-Sided Cantilever Arms extend from both sides of the column. More storage per column, accessed from both sides by forklift or by hand. The most common configuration for freestanding rows in the middle of a warehouse.

Structural Cantilever Heavy-duty welded steel construction for very heavy loads — steel coils, heavy pipe, large beams. Higher capacity than roll-formed systems and better suited to outdoor or high-impact environments.

Roll-Formed Cantilever Lighter duty, more economical option for lumber, furniture, and lighter sheet goods. Faster to install and reconfigure than structural systems.

Outdoor Cantilever Galvanized or powder-coated for exterior use — common in lumber yards, pipe storage, and building material operations where product is stored outside.

Frequently Asked Questions

What products is cantilever racking best for? Cantilever is ideal for anything too long, wide or awkward for standard pallet racking — pipe, tube, bar stock, lumber, sheet goods, furniture, extrusions, carpet rolls and similar products. If it hangs over the edge of a pallet, cantilever is usually the better solution.

How much weight can cantilever racking hold? Arm capacities typically range from 500 to 3,000 lbs per arm depending on the system. Column capacities can reach 30,000+ lbs. We engineer every system to your specific load requirements — send us your product weights and dimensions and we’ll spec the right system.

Can cantilever racking be used outdoors? Yes — we supply galvanized and powder-coated systems designed for outdoor use. Footplates and anchors are specified for outdoor slab conditions.

Do I need a PSR for cantilever racking? Yes — Ontario Regulation 851 requires a PSR for new or substantially modified racking installations including cantilever systems. We can handle the PSR as part of your installation.

What areas do you serve? We install cantilever racking across Southern Ontario and Quebec — Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, Hamilton, London, Barrie and surrounding areas.
