Rack Certification
PSR Rack Inspection Ontario | CSA and OHSA Certification
Overview
If you install new racking, reassemble existing racking, change beam heights, or repair damaged uprights in Ontario — you are legally required to have a Pre-Start Health and Safety Review (PSR) completed by a professional engineer before the racking goes back into service. This is mandated under Ontario Regulation 851, Section 7.
TC Industrial Supply performs CSA A344-aligned rack inspections and delivers engineer-sealed PSR reports across Southern Ontario. We cover Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, Hamilton, London, Barrie and all of Ontario — typically with faster turnaround than national inspection firms.
Because we also supply and repair racking, we can flag deficiencies during the inspection and get you a quote to fix them the same day. One call, one company, full compliance.
What a PSR Inspection Covers
Every PSR inspection we perform follows the CSA A344 standard — Canada’s national guide for steel storage rack design, use and inspection. Here’s what’s included:
On-Site Assessment We walk every aisle, inspect every upright, beam connection, base plate, anchor, and floor condition. We check load capacities against your actual pallet weights and document every deficiency.
Engineer-Sealed Report Every finding is photographed, classified by severity, and tied to a recommended action. The final report is signed and sealed by a professional engineer — the document your Ministry of Labour inspector wants to see.
Prioritized Action Plan Deficiencies are classified as immediate (take out of service now), urgent (fix within 30 days), or monitor (flag for next inspection). You get a clear list of what needs to happen and in what order.
Annual Inspection Compliance CSA A344 requires expert rack inspections annually. We can schedule your yearly inspection and keep your compliance records up to date.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I legally need a PSR in Ontario? Yes — Ontario Regulation 851, Section 7 requires a Pre-Start Health and Safety Review before new or substantially modified racking goes into service. This includes new installations, reassembled racking, repaired uprights, and beam height changes. Operating without one is a liability risk if a Ministry of Labour inspector visits.
How long does an inspection take? Most warehouse inspections take 1-3 hours on-site depending on the size of your racking system. The engineer-sealed report is typically delivered within 7-10 business days.
Do I need a PSR if I buy used racking? Yes. Used racking that has been disassembled and reassembled requires a PSR before it goes back into service. We can certify used systems we supply or systems you’ve sourced elsewhere.
What happens if deficiencies are found? We classify every deficiency by severity and give you a prioritized action plan. Because we also do rack repair, we can quote and fix any deficiencies on the same visit — getting you to full compliance faster.
How often does racking need to be inspected? CSA A344 calls for monthly internal inspections by a competent person and an annual expert inspection. We can schedule your yearly inspection and maintain your compliance records.
What areas do you cover? We perform PSR inspections across Southern Ontario — Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, Hamilton, London, Barrie, Brantford and surrounding areas throughout Ontario.
